CDPRINT- OFFSET PRINTING FOR CD/DVD

The KBA-Metronic CD PRINT printing technology makes it easy to print photographic quality designs on CD and DVD. Its advantage is the quick change of printing plates. It is possible to produce individual and economic small runs as well as customized solutions. More than 6,000 printed CDs per hour make our CD PRINT one of the most efficient printing machines in the world. Since UV hardening inks are used, the cleaning time is reduced to a minimum.

PREMIUS - WATERLESS 4 ROLLER SYSTEM

KBA-Metronic`s PREMIUS is your offset press of choice if brilliant print quality, flexibility and speed are the top priority when you need perfect reproduction of designs in photo quality on long runs of data carriers, whether on DVDs, CDs, mini discs or optical business cards. PREMIUS and its transport system have an unbeatable speed – up to 7.200 discs per hour. Thanks to Metronic`s waterless 4 roller system, which combines with a white and varnish unit to produce impressive results, the print quality is outstanding, right through to partial varnishing. To meet the extreme demands of DVD printing, every printing unit in PREMIUS has its own UV curer. The fully automatic plate change device allows four printing units to be fitted with analogue or digital plates register-true in 5 minutes.

GENIUS 52 UV - SHEET FED OFFSET WITH WATERLESS AND UV TECHNOLOGY

The GENIUS 52 UV has been conceived as a four or five colour sheet printing press using a format up to 14.17 x 20.47`` (360 x 520 mm). It guarantees economic work flows, especially for medium runs. The GENIUS UV 52 was designed to support fast and continuous one-man operation. The GENIUS 52 UV is based on the principle of waterless offset printing on extreme materials such as films and hard fouls (e.g. PVC, PET, ABS) and on sheets from 0.1 to 0.8 mm thick.

The transfer of ink is assisted by water temperature controlled anilox rollers and plate cylinders without keys, ensuring an absolute even transfer of ink and a high and constant printing quality. The V-shaped arrangement of the printing units is assembled around the central impression cylinder. The equal diameter of anilox rollers, plate inker, plate cylinders and blanket cylinders guarantees a ghost-free image. The four or five colour offset image will be transferred wet in wet with UV-ink and cured after the last printing station.

Further processing (laminating, die-cutting, etc.) may start immediately without any delay. The fully automatic plate-inserting sequence allows a change of plates within 7 minutes register-true. The press can run with KPG, Presstek, Toray waterless CTP plates or Toray`s proven waterless analogue plates. The optional available automatic blanket washing system enables a smoothly and easy cleaning of the blankets.

OC 100 - OFFSET FOR SMARTCARDS

KBA-Metronic`s OC 100 offset printing system is mainly designed for small and mid-size single card runs offering an outstanding four colour printing quality. The KBA-Metronic OC 100 provides for high functionality, user-friendly operation and cost-effectiveness. Its technology is based on the principle of waterless offset printing. KBA-Metronic`s patented short-ink press with anilox rollers guarantees even ink transfers for brilliant printing throughout the whole run – at 200 lpi. Benefits:

OC 200 – OFFSET FOR SMARTCARDS

The OC 200 is designed for printing on plastic single cards in ISO format 86 x 54 mm. Its advantages are the rapid change of plates and economic manufacturing. It offers you the possibility of short run editions for customized solutions. The basic principle of the OC 200 is the modular way. Four or more ink units can be combined with a primer or a varnish unit. Hence, printing and varnishing of the cards is possible in one single run. The feeding magazine may be filled by hand or exchanged within seconds by pre-filled magazines. An integrated photo sensor controls double card defects and stops the running machine.

The OC200 is based on the principle of waterless offset printing. The transmission of ink is effected by anilox rollers. This printing method guarantees an absolute even transmission of ink, a high printing quality, and hence the use of 1209/140/FM anilox rollers. While printing, an additional adjustment of ink is no longer necessary. A constant quality within one run is achieved by watercooled plate cylinders. Due to the simple construction of the OC 200 and the final adjustment of the plate cylinder in stop position, the changing of the printing plates can be effected without any problems.

UNIVERSYS - AUTOMATIC CARD TRANSPORT SYSTEM

The univerSYS, a fully automatic card transport system, is especially designed for the personalisation of single cards. It combines both coding with security technology -- separation, rotation, ink jet, hot stamping or label and stacking modules with cameras. Thus it meets a wide variety of personalisation requirements. The range of application covers addresses, personal data, pin numbers, barcodes, serial numbers, expiry data as well as scratch off strips e.g. security labels, covering secret data. Integrated cameras guarantee safe and correct data handling. Due to its modular, tailor-made design the univerSYS is perfectly suited for the individualization of tags, membership cards, prepaid cards, magnetic stripe and chip cards, etc.

The univerSYS standard model comprises the following modules:

Separation module: Separates ISO standard cards by friction. Designed for material thickness from 32 mil – 40 mil (0.2 - 1 mm).

Rotation module: Turns the cards from portrait to landscape allowing coding in both directions.

Print module: Equipped with two alphaJET C print heads, 55 µ nozzle. It can easily be upgraded to 4 print heads. Integrated code camera to check and report all relevant printing information for correct data handling.

Hot stamping module: The KBA-Metronic hot stamping unit M06 covers data with scratch off foil up to a maximum of 400 mm2. Capacity up to 7,200 cards/hour, or as Rotative Hot stamping unit with a capacity up to 12,000 cards/hour. The module can also be equipped with the labeller as a customer option. In addition a second camera is available to check for the presence of scratch off strips.

Stacking module: Includes a KBA-Metronic standard conveyor belt and a reject station.

alphaJET C  - THE CLASSIC CHOICE FOR A NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS

The alphaJET C is a freely programmable ink jet printing system, which works on the continuous ink jet principle, for non-contact coding with coloured and pigmented inks. The alphaJET C can be integrated into a network of PC, barcode reader, image analysis control and x-y axes systems, as well as with one single production line, or print completely different data simultaneously at two separate production lines. The alphaJET C uses fast drying inks which guarantee optimum adhesion. The widest variety of materials can be printed with the alphaJET C, e.g. webs, glass, metal, plastic, paper, etc. Even on irregular and recessed surfaces, the print image of 1-6 lines is of consistently high quality.

The range of application covers expiry dates, batch numbers, logos, barcodes (EAN, 215 i, Code 39, etc.), Data Matrix Code, current numbering, production data like dates, time, shift identification, etc. In inline operation, the items to be coded are processed with a speed of up to 8 m per second. As the printing unit and control unit of the alphaJET C are independent of each other, further printing units can be controlled and synchronised by one single master unit. The customer not only has standard inks at his disposal, but also pigmented inks and special inks such as petrol-resistant, non-fading, UV-detectable inks, or inks suitable for food processing industries. The special construction of the alphaJET C allows for the use of pigmented inks for high-contrast and non-fade coding on difficult surfaces.

The alphaJET C is controlled by means of an integrated terminal with membrane keyboard. The interfacing enables easy connection with other alphaJET C printers and with outside controlling systems. Solvent consumption and emissions are reduced to a minimum due to the unique solvent recovery system (2,5ml/h at 20°C).

alphaJET C-HS   – MARKINT WITH SMALL FONTS AT HIGH SPEED

The alphaJET C-HS (where HS stands for high-speed), another of our continuous inkjet printers, was developed to meet speed requirements in conjunction with small type but excellent typography, particularly for single line cable coding. The print head had to be adapted in order to reach speeds of up to 10 m/s with a 55µ nozzle. Geared to the requirements of the cable industry,  several dye based and pigmented inks are currently being used in the alphaJET C-HS.

alphaJET E – MEETS IP 55 REQUIREMENTS

The functions of the alphaJET E have been geared to the requirements of the drinks and food industry. With a 24-point matrix, the alphaJET E prints up to four lines for top grade application of production and product data. The housing was developed in compliance with the required IP 55 protection class for damp and wet rooms and it has been adopted as a standard feature. With this conception it has been possible to implement an extended temperature range of 5° C to 45° C. The economic operation and low consumption makes the alphaJET E suitable for large production volumes.

A great combination for blister cards, folding boxes and all flat packaging materials, the UDA 150-S feeder lets you combine almost all Metronic marking systems. For example alphaJET C thermal transfer, laser systems, etc. It`s the clever solution for the off-line marking of your products.

UDA 150-S  - FEEDER

The UDA 150-S is a very compact stand alone feeder for coding and printing. It is suitable for folding boxes, labels, single sheets and all kinds of material blanks. It was designed for integration with a broad variety of printing systems and offers flexibility. The application covers variable data, sequential numbering as well as price and contents information. Barcodes and logos are also easily printed. In addition, the UDA is ideal for addressing and personalizing as well as for printing small format commercial applications. The UDA features ease of handling, highest reliability and a very attractive cost-effectiveness.

The material blanks are transferred from stack to stack and controlled by an adjustable photo-electric barrier, thus allowing for precisely positioned prints. The highly reliable separating device, which we developed, enables refilling even during the printing process. Depending on the print image and the size of the printed material, the UDA codes and marks  at speeds up to 180 tacts per minute.

UDA 150-S SCRATCH OFF

For applying PIN codes and scratch off areas on smartcards. The UDA scratch off is equipped with the KBA-Metronic alphaJET printer and the hot stamping unit M06. The UDA scratch off is a fully automatic card transport system for the application of scratch off strips onto smart cards. This machine combines an ink jet system with a transport unit and a hot stamping unit. It provides for extremely high functionality, ease of handling and an attractive cost-effectiveness.

The information to be concealed is applied to the card with an ink jet printer. The card is then transported by the UDA to the hot stamping system, which covers the information with a scratch-off foil. The maximum printing area of the scratch-off strip is 10 x 40 mm. Up to 80 cards per minute can be processed. The alphaJET C integrated with the UDA, which is a freely programmable ink jet printing system that works on the ``continuous ink jet principle``. The ink is immediately dry and guarantees optimum adhesion. Up to three lines of information can be printed with the alphaJET C. The printing data can also be called up from an external data base.

The ink jet data is covered by a scratch off foil, which is printed with a KBA-Metronic hot stamping unit. The foil, which is absolutely opaque, can be scratched off without any technical equipment. Changing of the hot stamping foil is easily accomplished within seconds. Special magazines for the infeed and the output of the cards guarantee a quick feeding and off-loading of the machine. The UDA scratch off can process all ISO standard cards with a minimum thickness of 0.1 mm. The hot stamping foil adheres to almost all materials (ABS, PET, mono materials, laminate).

M03.1 - HOT STAMPING SYSTEM

The M03.1 hot stamping system is controlled by microprocessor and able to print up to 1,200 images per minute, depending on material and surface. A new cliché locking mechanism guarantees operational safety and constant printing quality. The foil can be exchanged within seconds.

ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY, MEMBRANE KEYBOARD

The new control unit is equipped with a membrane keyboard. It is menu-driven, user-friendly and has a display of two lines on which temperature, dwelling time, printing delay and number are indicate. Parameters that are once installed can be memorized in 9 storage spaces. Four freely configurable signal outputs are at the user`s disposal. The M03.1 corresponds to all European regulations for accident prevention, electric equipment and electromagnetic compatibility.

MB01 - HOT STAMPING FOIL UNIT

The MB01 is a low cost, modular built, hot stamper with an integrated controller. The MB01 is able to print up to 500 prints per minute, depending on material and surface. M05 - MODULAR HOT STAMPING UNIT

The M05 is a modular hot stamping unit with the print head attached on the side and with particularly large printing area. Especially suited for cases of application which require a large printing area or for applying entire text blocks. The position of the print head allows the printing process to be extended to the marginal area of the product. Its features are:

The M01 is a miniature hot stamping unit with small dimensions (244 x 85 x 104 mm) for use in packaging machines with a minimum of available space. The M01 Mini S is a variant with the print head attached on the side. Its features:

ttPRINT - THERMAL TRANSFER OVERPRINT

The ttPRINT is a freely programmable printing system that can be integrated with all kinds of packaging machinery, horizontal or vertical bagging systems, form-fill-seal machines and labelling systems for coding on all types of webs, labels and packaging materials. The system operates on the thermal transfer method, producing an excellent print image with very fine edge definition, which is immediately dry and abrasion proof. Data, barcodes or graphics are directly applied to all kinds of flexible packaging material in a high resolution of 300 dpi.

The  ttPRINT runs at speeds up to 800 mm/sec. and depending on the variation of the print head of 53, 107 or 128 mm, images with a size of 128 x 3000 mm can be printed. Hence, even very large motifs are no problem. There is a considerable reduction of ribbon consumption -- up to 80% in relation to the print image. The ttPRINT operates both, continuous and intermittend due to the cassette system, ribbon change is accomplished within seconds. Data input is accomplished directly at the control unit via a PC or touch panel. The KBA-Metronic design program ttGRAPHICS  allows not only for generating dates, barcodes and graphics, but also for data input from an external database. Data transfer is accomplished via  parallel, serial, USB or Ethernet interface onto the integrated Memory of 16 MB or the expandable 128, 256, 512 or 1024 MB Compact Flash.

K-1000 - INDUSTRIAL LASER PRINTERS

The CO2 laser series K-1000 are space-saving bundles of power. Thanks to their compact design with integrated controls, they are the smallest devices of their type and can be integrated straightforwardly into any production line. They are equipped as standard with a high-speed write head and can mark products intermittently or continuously. Laser marking is a reliable and environmentally friendly solution which requires no consumables. It is ideal for cost-effective and long-lasting direct marking of ceramic, paper, cardboards, wood, glass and plastics without a color wrapper.

As standard  each model can mark products when stationary or moving and also the beam exit may be selected at between 0° or 90°. The reliabla systems require only modest maintenance expenditure, and its minimal operating costs are a strong argument in procurement.

K-1010 SP / K-1030 SP / K-1060 SP

The high-performance K-1000 SP range of models with 10 W, 30 W or 60 W was devised with its design and function geared specifically for standard applications with a text of up to 4 lines, with a marking field up to 75 mm x 75 mm such as batch numbers.

Data entry and configuration are managed via a pocket terminal or touch-screen terminal. For data transfer, an RS 232 interface is available.

K-1010 Plus / K-1030 / K-1060 Plus

The wide range of options for the K-1000-Plus series with 10 W, 30 W or 60 W also provides for complex applications such as graphics, logos, bar-codes and data matrix codes, in addition to standard marking; and for marking especially thin materials, special fonts such as the Crystal Font are available. This laser system with a marking area of up to 250 mm x 250 mm, is able to satisfy even the exacting requirements of the pharmaceutical sector (as set out in 21 CFR Part 11). In addition to the RS 232 interface protocol, an Ethernet protocol is also available for all models, allowing simple integration of the laser systems into existing networks and connection to merchandise information systems.

D-5005 / D-5010 / D-5020 YAG-Laser

The high performance YAG-laser systems with 5 W, 10 W or 20 W for industrial coding and decoration on metals and plastics is distinguished by excellent type quality and permanent coding at low operating costs. The D-5000 series prove that maximum functionality and availability for the industrial coding of metals and plastics by means of YAG laser can be inexpensive. Using the Marca 4.90 software, with the D-5000  you can meet virtually all requirements from simple markings (text, date, time etc.) and bar codes as well as 2-D-Data Matrix Codes to decorative lettering (truetype fonts, logos, etc.). With the D-5000 Laser system an Ethernet interface and high speed writing head are standard equipment. The beam exit can be selected at between 0° and 90° and it can mark standing and moving products in series.
