Our services include: Conversion of paper and other formatted documents to electronic form. The conversion process usually starts with classic OCR (optical character recognition). That means, roughly, you scan the paper documents and try to interpret the electronic pictures and store them in a word processor format. This is where the fun starts. Quality Assurance (QA) of documents already converted or Semi-automatic Translation: everyone has put some text into an automatic translator and been amused by the results. Some human intervention is always necessary to reach a polished product. But why not use the computer to help the humans who are doing the checking? We do it. What is the common factor in all three of the services above? An expert system. That is to say, a computer system that learns as you go, making work easier and faster the more you do.As we do each of the three activities above, a database is being created continually. This database holds all the corrections and decisions. At the end of your project, you receive your database for re-use.

Trigram Analysis, Fuzzy Expert Learning System
Most of our software is based on trigram analysis of letters, words and phrases in 11 languages to resolve text ambiguity problems. Compulex was one of the first to apply this theory to practical problems of automatic OCR error detection and correction. In addition, we use a fuzzy expert learning system approach, building on prior experience to improve the consistency achieved in language recognition applications including automatic translation and automatic classification. A key system component is a proprietary fuzzy algorithm capable of finding, with a confidence level exceeding 95%, the nearest neighbor to a search phrase comprising up to 10 keywords.
