Radiance(R) Technologies, the leading provider of asset delivery systems (ADS), today announced that CEO Tom Engdahl will speak at the Henry Stewart DAM Symposium, being held November 12-13 in Los Angeles, the largest single gathering on the west coast for the digital asset management (DAM) industry.

Engdahl will speak on Day 2, November 13 at 9:40 am on the topic of "Metadata, Now You See it, Now You Don't." For years, specialized forms of metadata (essentially, data about data) have been used in a variety of industries and their related applications, such as libraries, where it is used to catalog books; database publishing, where metadata helps users search content or transaction databases; and Digital Asset Management, where it is used to organize information, media and high value assets by topic, type and usage. Another newer area where metadata is key is in search engine technology, where it is used to find, sort and deliver specific content based on uncertain parameters.

"As all this information has migrated to the desktop of knowledge workers via electronic access, the specialized metadata systems developed for multiple applications are merging into a comprehensive system, said Tom Engdahl, CEO of Radiance Technologies. "Radiance's TrueDelivery is a software-based asset delivery engine that can optimize bandwidth, allowing even massive and HD files and their respective metadata to be sent together to their destination in a secure and managed way."

The arrival of high-definition TV (HDTV) and programming and advertising means even larger volumes of content will have to be produced, managed, and transferred between creative teams who are producing this programming. Radiance Technologies and other firms on the leading edge of global brand management will tackle this and related issues at the event.

Radiance's flagship product TrueDelivery(TM), an asset delivery system, features a desktop interface that allows users to transfer hundreds of files in a single drag- and-drop operation, with e-mail style addressing. Users can also prioritize delivery of files or groups of files, and allocate them differing amounts of bandwidth. The software includes advanced tracking and monitoring mechanisms capable of producing specific audit trails to meet corporate compliance or regulatory requirements.
